Hooper, Larry Boyd

amem_nascar.jpgLarry Boyd Hooper, 51, of Christiansburg, won his best championship on April 5, 2008 when he went to be with the Lord at his home.

A member of the Cornersview Pentecostal Holiness Church he was a huge NASCAR and Hokie Fan. He served as track chaplain at New River Valley Speedway from 1999 until 2004 and was a member of the crew of the 1997 track champion at the Coburn, VA track.

Preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Faye Hooper, he leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful daughter, Nicole Hooper, Radford; brother and sister-in-law, Wade and Lorie Hooper, also, his precious nephew and little buddy, whom he adored, Christopher all of Christiansburg; step-mother, Ruby Hooper, Dublin; his former wife and friend, Gail Hooper, Elliston; a host of aunts; uncles; cousins; and friends as well as his loving cats.

Friends may call anytime after noon Monday at the Horne Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday evening. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 8, 2008 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frankie Graham, the Rev. Jim Walker and Pastor T. Michael Bond officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg.
