Holt, Ida Virginia

Ida Virginia Holt, 77, a lifelong resident of the Guinea Mountain community of Giles County, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her cherished husband of 58 years, Robert Junior Holt; her daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Rudy Jones; two grandsons, Robert Jones, of Christiansburg, Kenny and wife, Amy Jones; and a very special great-grandson, K. J., of Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Pauline Gordon, of Pearisburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She leaves three adopted daughters whom she loved and who loved her dearly in return, Connie Bane, Linda Bailey and Dot Lafon. She is also survived by a brotherin-law, Ed and wife, Marie Holt; and two sisters-in-law, Nadine Perkins and Ethel Perkins.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Holt Jr.; her parents, John and Fannie Perkins; brothers, Cecil, Ernest, Vernon, Raymond and Elmer Perkins; sisters, Thelma White, Arbelle Thornhill, Frances Kingery and Annie Honaker.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View United Methodist Church (on Guinea Mountain Road) with the Rev. Claude Dove and the Rev. Ronnie Duncan officiating. Burial in the Mt. View-Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mountain View United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Mt.
