holmes_william_oakley_jrWilliam Oakley (Brother) Holmes Jr., of 907 Jackson Avenue, Pulaski, Va., currently residing at Highland Ridge in Dublin passed from this life to eternal life on Saturday, January 22, 2011. He was born March 26, 1932. He was the son of the late William Oakley Holmes Sr. and Alice Blakely Holmes. Brother was a devoted member of New Century United Methodist Church and then Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, he served as an Usher for 50 years and was proud to be a member of the United Methodist Men until illness made changes in his life. He received a citation from President Bill Clinton for his outstanding work as a volunteer for the SHARE Program in Pulaski and was featured as Roanoke Television “Hometown Hero.” He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Holmes Brown and brother, Aaron White. Brother leaves to cherish his memory his niece, Zebbie E. Holmes; greatnephew, William Oscar Holmes; cousins; friends and his Highland Ridge Family. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday January 25, 2011 at Randolph Avenue United Methodist Church, Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, Va.
