Hollaway, Joy Ann

Joy Ann Hollaway, age 71 of Radford Health and Rehab Center, passed away April 11, 2014 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. She was born in Princeton, WV on March 18, 1943 and lived in Peterstown, WV most of her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Emory V. Hollaway, in 1978 and her mother, Lucille V. Hollaway, in 2013. She was a resident of the Center for the last 4 1/2 years and enjoyed her life there tremendously having made many, many “good friends” among the residents, staff, and visitors.She was a member of Peterstown United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for several years. She truly lived up to her name… bringing joy to everyone she came in contact with. She was always happy and cheerful and interested in the lives of those around her. What a role model for the rest of us!

She is survived by one brother, E.V. ‘Butch’ Hollaway and wife Sharon of Radford, sister, Sue Jones and husband Mike of Peterstown, sister, Jane Hale and husband Ralph of Marshville, NC, niece, Melanie Coleman and husband Curtis of Radford, niece Nikki McGregor and husband Mike of Radford, nephew Shane Jones of Peterstown, WV, nephew Jason Bryant and partner Sonya of Gastonia, NC, 3 great nieces, Kendal Hines, Mckenzie Kellison, and Whitney McGregor, and 2 great nephews, Sean Bishop and Adam McGregor.

Funeral Service will be 12:00 PM, Noon, Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Sauvage officiating. Burial will follow in the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County, VA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank Radford Health and Rehab center for creating such a loving, happy home for Joy.
