John Hogan, age 78, of Leesburg, FL passed away at home on March 17, 2025. John was born October 3, 1946 to parents John Hogan, Sr. and Ann (Dinilich) Hogan in Corning NY.

John graduated from East High School in Corning in 1964. He honorably served in the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army during the Vietnam War from 1967-1968, receiving several medals for his bravery and skill. He began working at Corning Inc. in 1972, and worked his way up to be a highly respected Electrical Engineer. He was part of the start-up team for the Blacksburg Corning Plant in 1988, and retired after 38 years of service.

John married the love of his life, Lola (Willow) Hogan, in 1983, and they had twin daughters, Stephanie and Valerie, who they loved deeply. John spent 28 years in Christiansburg, VA, and retired to Leesburg, FL in 2016, where he found a close group of neighbors and friends. John was passionate about learning new things and had many hobbies and interests, including woodworking, photography, bicycling, hiking, chess, and more. John was able to travel to many places across the world, both for work and on cherished family vacations. John was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness and generosity, and his steadfast presence.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lola in 2013; parents, John Hogan Sr and Ann Hogan; siblings Mark Hogan, Judy Alfonso, and Edward Hogan. John is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Hogan of Blacksburg, VA, and Valerie Hogan (Brian Stanek) of Richmond, VA; his sister Mary Ann (Jim) Thomas of Corning, NY; nephew Vinny Alfonso, sister-in-law Lori Hogan Kelchner, brother-in-law Chente Alfonso, and his beloved dog, Cash.

Friends are invited as we honor John’s memory at the Farmhouse Restaurant in Christiansburg, VA on Sunday, April 6 at noon. John will then be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Corning, NY on Wednesday, April 9 at noon to rest alongside his loving wife, Lola.
