Parthelia (Polly) Agatha Hodge, 83, of Blacksburg died, Sunday, May 24, 2009, at her home. She was born in Glen Lyn, Va. on December 25, 1923 to the late Alonzo and Hattie Peters Whitlow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Preston Hodge, four sisters, Maggie Turner, Doris Clements Culbertson, Lola Gills, Frances Stewart and four brothers, James Whitlow, Caudill Whitlow, Lonnie Whitlow, John Whitlow. Polly was a member of the Wesleyan Community Church and past member of Faith Christian Church. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Darlene Hodge, of Blacksburg, Robert Gene and Dottie Hodge, of Elliston; two sisters and brother-in-law, Faye and Allen Smith, of Florida, Brownie Sinclair, of North Carolina; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rev. Sidney Gills, of Florida, Arnold and Dorothy Hodge, Lena Brooks, all of Blacksburg, Dorethy Hodge, Patricia and Calvin Sweeney, Hazel Hodge, all of Christiansburg ; two grandchildren, Ronda Pritchard, of Dayton, Ohio, Preston Hodge of Dayton, Ohio; three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; many friends and a very special friend, Dee Dee Frizell. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Johnson and the Rev. John Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Friends may call any time Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
