Hodge, Hazel Kanode

Hazel Kanode Hodge, age 84, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord, Friday, January 30, 2015. She was born in Blacksburg, Va. on November 2, 1930 to the late Lewis Singleton, Sr. and Clara Hale Kanode.

Also preceded in death by her husbands Kelly Nowlin, Maynard Russell Hodge, brother, Lewis Singleton Kanode, Jr., sisters, Zenna Kanode Hodge and Virginia Kanode Smith. She was a life time member of the First Church of God, Blacksburg and a longtime employee of Va. Tech. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Joan Henderson and husband, Richard, Marie Alban and husband, Harry, Deborah Nowlin Specht, sons and daughters-in-law, Eric Nowlin and wife, Carrie, Philip Nowlin and wife, Sherri, sister, Nancy Kanode Ayers, grandchildren, Robert Henderson, Margaret Prybuto, Jill Henderson, Adam Duncan, Greg Duncan, Lucas Nowlin, Erika Nowlin, Mitchell Nowlin, and Matthew Nowlin, five great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Ansley and Rev. Richard Gilbert officiating. interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Saturday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. SW, Blacksburg.
