Hobbs, Vernie Richard

Vernie Richard “Rick” Hobbs,Sr., 73, of Pearisburg departed this life Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek Born in Giles County on November 5, 1935 he was a son of the late Nathan Mahone and Beulah Ferguson Hobbs.

He had been active in the Masonic Lodge, was a Life Member of the Jaycees, and had been employed as an automobile salesman.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son Vernie Richard, Jr. and Valarie Kerr Hobbs of Bedford; his daughters Monica and husband Troy Carbaugh of Narrows, Sabrina Neal of Narrows, and Shelly Cardwell of Pearisburg; his brother Dallas Hobbs of Flint, Michigan; his grandchildren Pvt. 2cl Dustin and Aubrey Neal of Leesville, Louisana, Belle Neal of Narrows, Hunter Cardwell of Pearisburg, Courtney Carbaugh of Narrows, Jake Hobbs and Kali Hobbs of Bedford.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 PM at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
