Hoback, Christine H.
Christine H. Hoback, 86, of Stuart, Va., passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2009, following a life well lived. She was born on March 16, 1923, to the late Everett and Helen Weiss Harless in the Belspring community of Pulaski County. She loved the Lord and she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She graduated from the old Belspring High School where she developed a lifelong love of reading and learning. During World War II, she worked at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant and later at the former Leggett Department Store, in downtown Radford. She was a devoted mother, a homemaker and lived on 3rd Street in Radford for over 50 years. She was a member of the Carter Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Richard Harless, Warner Harless, Robert Hatless, Ruth Harless McPeak and Lora Harless Worrell. She is survived by husband, Ernest Hoback, of Stuart; one son and daughterin-law, David and Deborah Hoback, of Stuart; two grandchildren, Hayley and Aaron Hoback; one sister and brother-in-law, Maleita and George Simpkins, of Radford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel , with the Rev. Christy Bane officiating. Interment will follow at the Westview Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carter Street United Methodist Church, 1219 2nd Street, Radford, Va. 24141-1303.
