hixon_janice_holcombJanice Louise Holcomb Hixon, 79, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, March 18, 2010. She was born on December 11, 1930, in Tazewell County to the late Harold and Josie Catron Holcomb. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lela McGuyer; and a brother, Alfred Holcomb. She was a faithful member of Cambria Baptist Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday school, worked with many youth programs, and belonged to the W.M.U. She also volunteered with the Clothing Closet and the Christmas Store. She was an avid flower gardener and participated with the Senior Olympics. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ruben E. Hixon; children, Sandra Mosolgo and husband, Gerald, of Cedar Bluff, Va., Ruben E. Hixon Jr. and wife, Janice, of Shawsville, Va., and Craig Hixon and wife, Vanessa, of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Sarah Cole and husband, Josh, Julie Hamill and husband, Doug, Robert Mosolgo, Joe Wilcher, Matt Wilcher, and Jordan Hixon; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Rosa Linkous, of Blacksburg, Va.; and numerous other relatives and friends. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Cambria Baptist Church Children’s Playground Fund. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Cambria Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Harvey officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 19, 2010, from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home.
