Hirst Sr., Joseph Martin

Joseph Martin Hirst Sr., 80, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2009. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa., he remained a loyal Eagles and Flyers fan, telling everyone he met, “This is the year of the Eagles.”

“Pop-Pops” will always be remembered most for his kind and gentle nature and his happy-go-lucky spirit. Home with Mom at last- you’ll always be alive in our hearts, Daddy.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Va.

In lieu of flowers, the best tribute to Joe would be a donation to any charity and a smile for everyone you meet.
