Robert (Bob) Allen Hipps, 76, of Radford, Va., passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2007 in Lansing.

Robert was born July 13, 1931 in Morganton, N.C. Preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, he is survived by two daughters, Teresa (Timothy) Miller of Potterville and Angela (Carl Towne) Hipps of New Hudson; two sons, Bob (Doris) Hipps, II of Eaton Rapids and James Hipps of Florida; four grandchildren, Kristopher Miller, Amy Hipps, Allen Hipps, III and Carrieann Towne; one great-grandson, Jason Miller; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Bonnie Alexander.

Bob was a retired electrical engineer from Kollmorgen Corporation in Radford, Va. and formerly of Eaton Stamping in Eaton Rapids. His education included a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and B.S. and M.A. degrees in Psychology. He was a distinguished Korean War Veteran, serving with both the United States Navy at the NATO Support Headquarters in Naples, Italy, and with the Strategic Air Command of the United States Air Force.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007 at the Shelly-Odell Funeral Home, 518 S. Main, Eaton Rapids with Pastor Daniel Hofmann officiating. There will be a visiting time for one hour prior to the service. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the NASCAR Foundation Victory Junction Gang Camp in memory of Bob Hipps.
