hinkhaus minnie sMinnie S. M. Hinkhaus, 95, of Westminster, Md. died Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center. Born January 27, 1917 in Floyd County, Va., she was the daughter of the late John Anderson Sowers and Nannie Louemma Thompson Sowers. Twice married, she was predeceased by husbands Thurman Mabry and William H. Hinkhaus Sr. She was predeceased by sisters, Effie Sowers and Una Conner, of Copper Hill, Va. Before retiring, she worked for the State of Maryland at the Rosewood Center. She was a member of Emory United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working with crafts, sewing, quilting, baking and gardening. Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Arlen “Al” Mabery and Pat, of Copper Hill, Va., Curtis L. Mabry and Janice, of Hunt Valley; grandchildren, Caitlin and R. Scott Mabry; great-grandsons, Joshua and Nicholas Mabry; devoted friends, Lisa Raffetto and John H. Purnell III, many Thompson cousins, and friends at Carroll Lutheran Village. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Carroll Lutheran Village Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, with the Rev. Jimmie Schwartz officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the Krug Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Emory United Methodist Church, 1600 Emory Road, Upperco, Md., 21155 or to Caroll Lutheran Village Residents Assistant Fund, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, Md., 21158.
