Hight, David Hines

David Hines Hight, 64, of Charleston, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. David was born in Pulaski County, Va., attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute, where he received his BS/MS in geology.

After graduating, he and his wife moved to Oklahoma, where he worked as an exploration petroleum geologist. They settled in West Virginia in the late 1970s, where he continued to work for several major oil companies before eventually becoming a project manager for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection, earning another master’s degree in environmental science from Marshall University. He was an avid member of Toastmasters, enjoyed wood working, gardening and caring for his numerous pets in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ihla Hight. He is survived by his wife, Denise; nieces, Alice Marie Owens and B.J. Ingiaimo; nephew, Hartford Hight; and brother, Harry Hight Jr.

As per David’s wishes, there will be no service.

He was a member of Humphreys Memorial United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ni Gorsuch, the nurses and doctors at CAMC and the Hubbard House for their care and dedication.
