Hicks, Lula Mae

Lula Mae Hicks, 88, of 5220 Baskerville Street, Dublin, Va., departed this life on Tuesday evening, February 16, 2010, at home after a long illness. Lula was born on October 27, 1921, in Draper, Va., to the late John R. Powell and Lila Stigger Powell. She was a member of Randolph Avenue Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir. Those left to cherish her memory a loving daughter, Yvonne Eaves (Steven Sr.), of Dublin; three grandchildren, Steven Jr., and Kenneth and Lytissa Eaves , all of Dublin; five great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Malik, Jaceri, Kendra and Jeremiah; one brother, Lawrence E. Powell, of Pulaski; one sister, Drucilla Powell Harvey, of Pulaski; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday February 20, 2010, at Randolph Avenue UMC, 1607 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, Va., with the Rev. Leroy Henry officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, February 19, 2010, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va.
