hicks_janice_jamesSaturday night November 14, 2009, we lost our anchor, Janice Marie Hicks, of Christiansburg, mother, grandmother, wife, aunt and sister.

She lived through the loss of her oldest brother, Edward James, killed in World War II; infant sister, Margie James; son, Linny T. Hicks Jr.; father, Walter James; mother, Madeline James; sister; Maybelle Wood, brother-inlaw, Cleo Wood; and husband of 58 years, Linwood T. Hicks Sr., in 2003.

We that live will carry on our loving memories, son, Jon Hicks, Christiansburg; daughters and son-in-law, Jan Lang, of Christiansburg, Myra and David R. Badger, Blacksburg; grandsons, Daniel and Nicole Hicks, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Matthew Buttel, Roanoke, David J. Badger, Mark T. Badger both of Blacksburg; brother and sister-in-law, Marshall and Darnell James; sister, Myra Poff; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews; special care givers, Katie, Pepe’, Suzy.

Our memories are in vain because of her faith in the Lord, we shall see her again.

Special thanks to Christiansburg Family Medicine, especially to Dr. Hannah and nurses April and Kelly. Special thanks to Christiansburg Rescue Squad and Carilion NRV Medical Center ER, CCU, doctors and nurses for their wonderful care of our mother and nurturing of our family.

Family and relatives are invited to the funeral service at noon on Thursday, November 19, 2009, at Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd, with the Rev. Richard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
