Herzig, Ruby Aileen

Ruby Aileen Herzig, 83, of Blacksburg, died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Heritage Hall Health Care Center. She was born in Blacksburg, Va. on January 1, 1923 to the late Clarence and Bertha Mae Sheppard Price and was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude Swanson Herzig, brother Garland Price, a sister, Ruth Elliott and several aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her sons, David A. Herzig, of Black Mountain, N.C., Glen A. Herzig of Alexandria, Va.; sister Bertha Jean Price Reed Sheppard of Christiansburg; brother-in-law, Emory (Ras) Elliott, of Blacksburg; special nephew, Tommy Sheppard; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Christine McCauley, Joyce Pascoe, Gene and Margo O’Bryan, and Bertha Shelor.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary W. McCoy officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Tuesday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
