Wendell Dean Hensley, age 75, of Blacksburg, passed away September 20, 2015. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Georgia and Rudolph Hensley and his father and mother-in-law, Trigg and Lala Thompson.

He is survived by his wife, Marie T. Hensley of 55 years; his daughters, Wendy Gibson of Clearwater, Fla., Tracy Smith (Tony), Blacksburg and son, Randy of Blacksburg. His brother, Ronald (Corinne) of Cloverdale, California. Three loving grandchildren, Ashley and Garrett Gibson, of Florida and Morgan McDowell also of Florida and a special great aunt, Martha Kiser of Mt. Sidney, Va.

Wendell had a passion for antique cars and sports vehicles. He was an avid Virginia Tech football and basketball fan. He also loved to read and enjoyed his travels throughout the country and abroad.

He received his engineering (bachelors and masters) degrees from Virginia Tech. He was employed at Poly-Scientific, Inland Motors and Force. He was in the Jaycees, served on the Board of Supervisors, New River Community College Board, Commission on Local Government, Masonic Lodge, Planning Commission, and a Boy Scout leader.

Please come and celebrate Wendell Hensley’s life with the family from 2-4:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 26th at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg.
