Henry, Clyde Francis
Clyde Francis Henry, 91, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Knoxville, TN to the late Gired D. and Grace Bales Henry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. Henry. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan Sweet, of Delray Beach, FL, Shirley Murphy and husband, Tom, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Chris Murphy, Sarah Murphy Deisher and husband, Steve, Danny Sweet, and Joey Sweet; one great-grandchild, Emily Deisher; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Howard Houk, Betty and Harold Byars; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Dot Henry, Ben and Kathleen Henry; several nieces and nephews. Retirement years were spent at Warm Hearth Village. He leaves many good friends at the Kroontje Health Care Center who have become his “second family”. Many thanks to them for their special care as well as the staff at Blue Ridge Cancer Care in Christiansburg. Memorial services will be held Monday, June 17, 2013 at 2 p.m. in the Belmont Christian Church with Mr. Jerry Dowdy, Mr. James T. Bayne, and Mr. Beaver Terry officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the church.
