Henley, William Sterley

amem_mtn-waterfall.jpgWilliam Sterley Henley, 86, of Radford, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2007. He was born September 21, 1920 in Mammoth, W.Va., the son of the late Frank W. and Dimple Lucas Henley.

He was a miner for 14 years and was a former employee of L.J. Press for 21 years and Elkhart Brass in Elkhart, Ind. before retiring. He was a longtime member of the Floral City Masonic Lodge in Florida, the Moose Lodge in Inverness, Fla., the Floral City Order of the Eastern Star #164, White Shrine and the Crystal Court in Amanrath, Fla. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald W. Henley; sister, Eleanor Henley; and brothers, Johnny, Harry and Hollis Henley. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mildred Henley of Radford; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and William D. Bishop of Radford; brother, Charles Henley of Muncie, Ind.; four grandchildren, Donald Henley, Jr., Robin Kemp, Deborah Jefferson and Michael Bishop; and four great-grandchildren, Kyle and Brittany Mason , Luke Henley and Ben Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with Pastor Jerry Gibson officiating. A Masonic graveside service will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Gethsemane Baptist Church.
