Henderson, Gerald Dean

S.S.G. Gerald Dean Henderson, age 83, of Blacksburg died Monday, July 23, 2018 at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery. He was born in Montgomery County, VA on February 18, 1935 to the late Frank and Ida Turman Henderson. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Steve Phillips; and brothers and sisters, Crystal, James, Hugh, Francis, Martha, Trent, and Daphne. He was avid bee keeper.

He is survived by his wife of 60 1/2 years, Christine Mae Henderson; daughter, Diana H. Phillips; son, Dean Henderson (Becky); brothers and sisters-in-law, Minor Henderson, Cody, Bill (Betty), David (Jeannie), Geraldine, Janie (Sammy), Tommy, Darlene and Wayne; grandchildren, Crystal L. Henderson, James Henderson, Chad Phillips, Cody Wyatt Phillips; great-grandchildren, Emma Mae Henderson, Frankie Lynn Rae Phillips, Ivaleigh Grace Phillips; and so many nieces and nephews to name, he loved each and everyone.

The family would like to thank Dr. Karanita M. Ojomo and Dr. Nicholas A. Ramey for their care.

Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, July 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr SW Blacksburg, VA 24060.
