Helems, Anna Stebar

Anna Fay Helems, 91 of New Castle, Virginia departed this life to be with her Heavenly Father Saturday, August 7, 2021 in her home. Born in Johns Creek, on October 17, 1929 she was a daughter of the late Harry Gleason Stebar and Margie Jane Bell Stebar.

Anna Fay was a central part of her community and a bit feisty, but to know her was to love her. Anna Fay had served in her life in a textile mill, and later in life with the National Forestry Service and serving Low Income Families. She is also, a lifetime member of the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church.

Anna Fay is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arnold Helems; sons, Melvin Arnold Helems, Robert Roscoe Helems, and Lloyd Vincent Helems; a daughter, Shelia Fisher; grandson, Matthew Funari; sisters, Frances Detamore; and Maude Elizabeth Jane Stebar.

Left to cherish her memory to their hearts are her daughters Mary Funari (Anthony) of Kentucky, and Shorty Sowers (Tommy) of Simmonsville; grandchildren, Chris Heath (Jerri), Teanna Sowers, Jessica Funari, Robert Lewis Funari, McKinley Heath, Dylan Heath, Evan Heath, and Zachary Sowers; a special great-granddaughter, Everleigh Sowers; special friends, Sue and Sammy Reynolds, and Bertie Ann Mills; and a whole community of persons whose lives she touched.

There will be a Celebration of Life held at the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church, Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM which will be completed at the Bell Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church.
