Jesse James Hedge, 81, of Radford, died Tuesday August 22, 2006 in the Veterans Hospital, Salem. He was born November 15, 1924 in Montgomery County, and was the son of the late Doris Simpkins Hedge, and Irvin Hedge. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of the Gethsemane Baptist Church, and was retired from Burlington Industries with 40 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas Hedge, Alvin Hedge, Daniel Hedge, Cecil Hedge, and Richard Hedge; and a sister Hilda Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Lester Hedge; three daughters, Connie Marie Lancaster of Winston-Salem, N.C., Brenda Jamie Wetherington of Valdosta, Ga., and Lydia Bell of Hopewell; one son, John Jesse Hedge of Pulaski; one brother, Frank Hedge of Pulaski; one sister, Mabel McPeak of Hiwassee. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday August 24, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford with the Rev. Jerry Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hedge Family Cemetery, Montgomery County. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford.
