Hayworth, Dorothy French
Dorothy Faye “Dot” French Hayworth, affectionately known as Nana by many, 92, peacefully passed away November 28th, 2016 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Rich Creek Va.
She was born June 25th, 1924 in Narrows Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Andrew J. French & Lathey Clark French. She was employed at Hoechst Celanese for 45 years.
She loved cooking for her friends and family and would do anything she could to help someone in need. She spent much of her time working in her yard and with her flowers which she loved but her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
She was the devoted mother to her only child Kathy Hayworth Bowles. She was a doting grandmother to Brian Bowles (Sara) & Misty Bowles Carter (Todd), a loving great grandmother to Taylor, Peyton and Cade Carter and Ginna & Ellyn Bowles; and a great-great grandmother to Harper and Maci Vest. She was preceded in death by her first husband; Juddie McKinney; her brothers, Arnold French and William “Bill” French; sisters Carrie Clevenger, LaRue Ferrell, and Juanita Jones; and a son-in-law, William Maury Bowles. Left to cherish her memory are her brother Richard “Dickey” French (Sally); a special niece, Sharon Blankenship (Jerry); a sister in law, Lois French; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends, including Troy Stafford and Theresa Conley.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows. Burial will follow in the French/Turner Cemetery in the Wolf Creek Community near Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Chapel Saturday from 12 noon until just prior to the service. The family requests that those sending memorial contributions, please consider the Alzheimer’s Association.
