Haynes, Mary Ruth Hurt

Mary Ruth Hurt Haynes, 93, of Christiansburg passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2007. She was born October 24, 1913 in West Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin and Sarah Hair Hurt; husband, Paul M. Haynes; son, John E. Haynes; daughter-in-law, Ruth Haynes; one sister; and four brothers.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas Haynes, David and Helen Haynes, Paul and Betty Haynes, all of Christiansburg, Mark Haynes of Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Ruby Hurt of North Carolina; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren.

Ruth was a member of Main Street Baptist Church for nearly 50 years and served on mission teams and was a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of VA and WV Daughters of American Revolution and served the Republican Party for 80 years.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Main Street Baptist Church, Christiansburg, with Dr. A. Timothy Hight and the Rev. Gary Long officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery. There will be no graveside service.
