Jim Edward Hayes, Sr., 79, of 4524 Dove Place Dublin, Virginia (formerly of Thorpe, West Virginia) went to be with his LORD on Saturday, January 7, 2007 at the Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia.

Mr. Hayes was born on June 1, 1927 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late William Henry Hayes and Ada Bell Hash Hayes. He attended the Church of God in Newbern.

Jim was a retired foreman from the U.S. Steel Corporation in Gary, West Virginia after thirty years of service. Mr. Hayes was a resident of Dublin for the past fifteen years. He served his country with the U.S. Navy in World War II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Irene Mitchem Hayes and one daughter Brenda Jane Hayes. Survivors Include two sons, David W. Hayes of Dublin, Virginia, Jim E. Hayes, Jr. and wife Phyllis of Gary, West Virginia; one daughter, Deborah Hendricks and husband James of Welch, West Virginia; grandchildren, Tommy Lee Vance, Jr., Matthew Wayne Hayes, Rachel Nichole Hayes, Kayla Marie Hayes and Casey Tanner Hayes.; greatgrandchildren, Sierra Lynn Vance and Trevor Hayes.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, West Virginia with the Rev. Clayton Quesenbury officiating the service. Entombment will follow the Service at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia. Friends and family may call at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, West Virginia on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 from 6 to 9 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Grandsons and friends. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Hayes Family.
