Hayes, Betty Jo McCarty

Betty Jo McCarty Hayes, 65, of Elliston went home to be with the Lord on Monday November 27, 2017. She was preceded by her mother, Betty Rose, grandparents, Addie and Armstead Long.

Ms. Hayes retired from Carilion after 18 years of service. She was proud of her degree she received from UVA. An active member of the Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church in Salem. She enjoyed bowling and watching butterflies in her spare time but mostly enjoyed being a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and a good friend who will be dearly missed by all.

Surviving are her daughters, Laurie Neighbors and husband Travis, Jennifer Edmondson; grandchildren, Corporal Nathan Moran and wife Meaghan, Zachary Moran, Ryan Edmondson and fiancée Rachael Muterspaugh, Cameron Edmondson; great granddaughter, Marleigh Jones; sisters, Brenda Radcliff, Wanda Snyder and husband Earl, Cindy Flintchum and husband Ronnie, Peggy Jacobsen and husband Bryan; brother, Ken Hamby and wife Michelle. Along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care and support during this difficult time.

A memorial service celebrating Ms. Hayes life will be held 4:00pm Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Riverside Evangelical Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Gordon officiating.
