Julia Mae Anderson Hawkins, 86, of Draper, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 26, 2012. She died at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Blacksburg, Va., after a long illness.

She was born on March 1, 1926, in Pulaski County and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Inie Anderson. She was preceded in death by five brothers; one sister; her husband, Roby Estle Hawkins; and son, Donald (Donnie) Hawkins.

Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jane Hawkins Viers and Walter (Bud) Viers, of Draper; one grandson and wife, Todd and Laura Viers, of Draper; two great-granddaughters, Lauren and Addisyn of Draper; one brother, Paul Junior Anderson, of Pulaski; daughter-in-law, Joan Dalton Hawkins, of Dublin; one sister-in-law, Alene (Dockie) Anderson, of Pulaski; several nephews and nieces; also a long time friend who has been like a sister, Florence Lambert, of Draper; and a very close friend of many years, Curtis Logan, of Pulaski.

She was a member of the Pulaski Church of God for many, many years and was secretary of her Sunday school class for a long time until her health started declining. She was not only a housewife but also worked outside of the home as a cashier in a local grocery store.

Her daughter and family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Judy Epperly and staff at Beulah House for the great care she received while there and also all the staff at Heritage Hall, and all staff and the Chaplin with Medi Home Health and Hospice, and also Stevens Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2012, from the Stevens Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Duncan officiating. Burial will follow in the Thornspring Church Cemetery. Visiting will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012, from the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski, Va., 540-980-2600.
