Hatcher Sr., Jerry

Jerry Hatcher Sr., 55, of Christiansburg, Va., born on August 1, 1953, went to heaven to rest on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Jerry was a loving man and faithful friend. Jerry never met a challenge building or framing that he could not rise to.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Karr; and brother, Stanley Hatcher. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cathy. She was the light of his world and was by his side every minute.

He is also survived by his children, Jerry W. Hatcher Jr. and wife, Nichole, and Crystal Stump and husband, Joey; grandchildren, Michael Stump, Katlin Stump and Samantha Hatcher; his father, T.W. Hatcher, of Shawsville; brothers, Donnie Hatcher, of Shawsville, Dennis Hatcher and wife, Lisa, of Shawsville, and Raymond Hatcher and Donna, of Christiansburg; sister, Linda Mize and husband, Keith, of Salem; stepfather, Thomas Karr, of Salem; special friends, Bob Ratcliff and Kelly Walters; and many, many other friends.

We want to offer a special thanks to all who prayed for and visited him. Also his care giver, Dr. McCoy, who was a blessing to the family, and to the nursing staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital. We will forever miss his smile and humor.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with special friend, Pastor Neil Turner officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va.
