Harlow “Jabe” Junior Hatcher, 84, of Floyd passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma Hatcher, his son, Jerry Tilden Hatcher, and his parents, Harlow and Emily Hatcher.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, David (Darla) Hatcher, Sanford (Teresa) Hatcher, and Alice (Ralph) Hollandsworth, and daughter-in-law, Susan Hatcher, all of Floyd; six grandchildren, Mark (Stacy) Hollandsworth, Bradley Hatcher, Allison (Anthony) Munsey, Ashley (Shayne) Poff, Telena (Riley) Harmon, and Samuel Hatcher; and seven great grandchildren, Trent, Gavin, Macy, Heath, Tanner, James, and Harlow.

Jabe served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 to 1955. During his high school years his passion was playing basketball in which he held a game high record of 51 points for several years.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Carilion Hospice, The Barter Clinic, and Skyline Nursing and Rehab for their compassion and care for our farther during this difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Gardner Funeral Home in Floyd. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Gardner Funeral Home with Pastor Roy Turpin and Pastor Michael Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd.
