Rev. Stanley R. Harvey, 88, of Wolfe Creek Rd., Narrows, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Va.

Born February 5, 1920 in Princeton, W. Va., he was the son of the late George W. and Lina Mae Via Harvey. Stanley worked with the Celanese Corp. from 1940 1952, with Maidenform from 1952 1957 and then served as a Baptist Minister, preaching at Arlington Baptist Church in Bryson City, N.C., Calvary Baptist Church in Radford, Va. and Woodlawn Street Baptist Church in Narrows, Va. He was a graduate of Princeton High School and Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Mandeville Harvey, five brothers, Dave, J.J., Garnet, Hardy and Floyd Harvey, and four sisters, Gwen Turner, Bonnie Bowling, Lina Mae Burbach and Lector Rumburg. Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Bonnie French Harvey; son, Timothy E. Harvey of Fairfax, Va.; two grandchildren, Karen E. and Jennifer L.; sister, Freda Rumburg of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton, with the Reverend Jimmie Jones, Reverend Archie Bowling, and Reverend Russell Gordon officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum of the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the courthouse road in Princeton, with military graveside services conducted by the West Virginia Honor Guard.

Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Family and friends may share online condolence via www.memorialfd.com. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
