Hartnett, Sarah H.

Sarah Helen Hicks Hartnett, passed away August 21, 2006 at Montgomery Regional Hospital after a short illness.

Sarah was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. Sarah worked with Humane Care for animals, Paws with Volunteers and Reading Program in school with dogs.

She was the daughter of the late Walter Millner Hicks and Helen Stewart Hicks and the widow of Edward Hartnett. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Spillers and Gladys Aquiar.

Sarah is survived by two sisters, Annie Reynolds (Alvin) and Margaret Mantiply of Madison Heights, VA. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She had three great nephews Jordan, Joshua and Nicholas Spillers who thought the world of their Great Aunt. Sarah had several special friends, Bill & Norma Rutledge, Karen McMahon, Renae Chandler, her companion Cassie, and the rest of her extended family.

There will be a memorial service for Sarah at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at Gateway Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Animal Hope Alliance, P. O. Box 237; Blacksburg, VA 24063 or the charity of your choice.
