Hartley, Lowell

Lowell Hartley, 72, of Christiansburg, Va. was born in Ben Hur, Va. on Tuesday, June 18, 1935 and passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at his home in Christiansburg. He had lived in Giles and Montgomery Counties since 1972.

Lowell retired as a district manager with Environmental Health with the Virginia Department of Health and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hartley; one son, William Lynn Hartley; parents, Claude and Alice Hartley; and one sister, Marion Williams.

Lowell is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Hartley Moore and husband, Steve, and their daughter ,Lauren Moore of Christiansburg, Va.; one son, John Hartley and wife, Pam, and their son, Thomas Hartley of Franklin, N.C.; and one brother, Harold Hartley of Ben Hur, Va.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. There will be no visitation. Province Funeral Home of 425 E. Morgan Ave., Pennington Gap, Va. 24277 is in charge of the arrangements.
