Ella Ruth Hartley of Christiansburg, Va. was born in Pennington Gap, Va. on Wednesday, December 13, 1939 and passed away on Friday, July 6, 2007 in Radford, Va. at the age of 67.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Lynn Hartley and her father, Roth E. Hobbs. She taught Cosmetology in the Giles County School System. She has been living in Montgomery County, Va. for 32 years and a member of the First Christian Church in Pennington Gap, Va.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Lowell Hartley of Christiansburg, Va.; one daughter, Elizabeth Hartley Moore and husband, Steve of Christiansburg, Va.; and one son, John Hartley and wife, Pam of Franklin, N.C.; and her mother, Marion “Dee” Hobbs of Pennington Gap, Va. Ruth is also survived by two grandchildren, Thomas Hartley and Lauren Moore; four brothers, Glen Hobbs of Pennington Gap, Va. Dana Hobbs of Dryden, Va. and Elton and Ray Hobbs, both of Jonesville, Va.; and three sisters, Gola Kirk of Livingston, Tenn., Linda Lucas and Teresa Cope, both of Pennington Gap, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. with Clinton Kirk officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. for the service. Province Funeral Home of 425 E. Morgan Ave., Pennington Gap, Virginia 24277 is in charge.
