Kathryn Susan (Kate) Harshberger died on Saturday, March 5, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 5, 1965, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She graduated from Radford University, Class of ’91, and was employed by her Alma Mater in the History Department. She was a member of the Board and Secretary of the Radford Heritage Foundation.

Left to mourn her kind and loving spirit are her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Richard F. Harshberger of Radford, Virginia; her beloved brothers, Dr. Edward R. Harshberger of Los Angeles, California, and Col. Christian D. Harshberger, USMC of Nokesville, Virginia; her sisters-in-law, Sharon Novey and Christy Harshberger; and her cherished nieces and nephews, Brendan, Miriam, Avery, and Cayden.

Kate found a loving community through her faith and friends in the Church of the Latter Day Saints. She touched the lives of a host of relatives and friends. Kate was always the happiest person in any room. She loved children, singing, dancing, and traveling to many parts of the world. All who knew her will remember with joy, the sparkle in her eyes, and her ready laughter.

A memorial service honoring Kate’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Grace Episcopal Church, Radford.
