Darrell William Harrison, 71, of Riner, went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 23, 2006 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born December 3, 1934, the son of Willis and Lissie Ellen McPeak Harrison.

Darrell was an avid fan of bluegrass music and was a member of the bluegrass group, ‘The Virginia Gentlemen.’ He loved antique cars, playing guitar and socializing with family and friends. Darrell never met a stranger. His greatest love however was his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Evelyn E. Harrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Benjy Bishop of Riner, Tami and David Booth of Christiansburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Brenda Harrison of Deltona, Fla.; his precious grandchildren, special buddy and helper, Dakotah Booth, Desira? Booth, Talon Booth, Caiden Booth, Jamie Bishop Reed, Logan Bishop, Kayli Harrison and Kristin Harrison; brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Gladys Harrison, Sr. of Radford; sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Bobby Sutphin of Dublin, Doris Wood of Dublin and Ruby Jean Buckner of Mt. Airy, N.C.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Joann Estes of Riner, Fred Estes of Riner, Mary Ann Estes of Dublin and Sadie Estes of Blacksburg. Also surviving him are his very special friends, Jack Martin, Lynwood Elkins and Joe LaRue.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mishra, Dr. Bruce Farris, Dr. Downing and Bill Lovegreen. Flowers will be appreciated, but the family requests donations to the Diabetes Association or the Heart Association.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Boothe officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
