Harris, Warren George

Warren George Harris (W.G.), 89, of Claytor Lake passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2011. He was born April 24, 1921, in Patrick County to the late George W. and Sally Scott Harris. Inducted into service August 3, 1924 and discharged December 4, 1945, Mr. Harris was in the 101st., Airborne Division. He made jumps in Normandy, Holland, and Bastogne the Battle of the Bulge where he was injured and received a Bronze Medal and Purple Heart. Mr. Harris is a Lodge Masons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Orene Lawson Harris. Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Dennis W. Harris and wife, Candace; Benjamin G. Harris and wife, Tracey; daughter Amy Harris and boyfriend, Pat Morris; granddaughters Emily, Erica, Abbey, and Sally Harris; great-grandson Dylan Cona. The Family will receive friends from 6-8 on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 5 at Carter Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Danielle A. Jenkins officiating.
