Harris, Robert V.

Robert V. ‘Bob’ Harris, 77, of Christiansburg, formerly of Galax, VA and Ypsilanti, MI, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.

Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Boyd Harris; infant daughter, Deborah; and parents, Elwin and Inez Burnette Harris. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Elkins; son, Steven (Maria) Harris of Oswego, IL; daughter, Suzanne (Jeff) Pollack of Joliet, IL; step-children, Christopher Stefi, and Sharon Patton; grandchildren, Luke and Jake Pollack; brother, Jack (Ethel Mae) Harris; niece, Jackie (Lane) Largen; nephews, Boyd (Andrea) Blackburn, Greg Blackburn, Mike Harris; and sister-in-law, Ann (Al) Blackburn.

Bob was a proud Virginia Tech graduate and 1961 letter winner, as well as Captain of H Company in the R.O.T.C. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired from Ford Motor Co. as an executive. Bob was also active in the Kiwanis Club and the Virginia Tech Hokie Club.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 20, 2016, from 10-11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service to commence at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. A visitation and committal will take place at 2 p.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Woodlawn, VA.
