Harris, Frances Cooper

Frances (Irene) Cooper Harris, 89, of Blacksburg, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at her home. She was born in Bedford County, Va. on May 8, 1919 , of the late Thomas Henry and Lurline Olds Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E. Harris; three brothers, John Cooper, Duvall Cooper, and Glenwood Cooper.

She retired after 32 years of Soil Conservation service at the United States Department of Agriculture. She was a member of the Blacksburg United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy G. and Mary Ann Harris, of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Katie Ferry and husband, Aaron, of Christiansburg, Kelly Ann and husband, Tim Brown, of Christiansburg, David C. Harris, of Blacksburg; greatgrandchildren, Kaleb Ferry and Leah Ferry; sister, Doris Krider, of Glendora, Calif.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reggie Tuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Blacksburg United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 931, Blacksburg, Va. 24063, Good Samaritan Hospice, 125 Arrowhead Trail, Christiansburg, Va. 24073.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
