Hare, Ethel Parcell

Ethel Lee Parcell Hare of Staffordsville, died Tuesday, August 23, 2022 after fighting hard and losing a 4-year battle with cancer. She was born on May 16, 1932 in Crumpler, WV. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary R Hale of Narrows, and Carl and Geneva Robertson Parcell of Wytheville, formerly of Pearisburg, VA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 daughters, Reba Hare, Janice Hayes, and Donna Gulley; son, Mikel Hare; grandsons, Christopher Shawn Hare and Jason Wayne Hare; sister, Thelma Gilmore; and brother, Donald “Dinkie” Parcell.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Marsha (Roger) Kessinger of Ripplemead, and Dianne (William) Edwards of Richmond, VA; 16 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; 4 sisters: Wanda (Sammy) Rhodes of Pembroke, Sandy Moser of Max Meadows, Janice Roark, and Debbie Bridges both of Christiansburg; a brother, Charles “Chuck” Parcell of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves a very dear longtime friend, Carol Akers of Willis, VA; a good friend and neighbor, Shirley McClung; two special Home Health nurses: Angie Lovely and Tara Sanders; and several special staff members of Heritage Hall in Rich Creek.

Mom really enjoyed having family and friends come to visit. She also enjoyed working Word Search Puzzles, playing Scrabble, card games, Rummy and Rook, and watching Gunsmoke and game shows on TV. She loved her flowers and cats. She felt especially close to her granddaughter, Cindy, great-grandson, Jacob and great granddaughter, Addy. She always said they were her angels. She loved her family very much and wished she could have seen them more often. Mom will be greatly missed by all. We will cherish her love and memory forever. She was the family hero.

A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Kessinger Cemetery (Kessinger Lane Gold bond) in Ripplemead, VA with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating.
