Hannah, Johnny Ralph

Johnny Ralph Hannah, 73, of the Poplar Hill community, Pearisburg, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016. He was born September 22, 1942 to Johnny and Jessie Hannah.

He graduated from Pearisburg High School in 1960 and attended Danville Technical Institute in 1962 with an associate’s in engineering degree. He retired from AMP/Tyco in 1998 as a Senior Die Engineer.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved attending sporting events involving his children and grandchildren. He was passionate about hunting, fishing and outdoor activities. He enjoyed spending time working on his tractor, mowing and plowing. He was president of the White Gate Ruritan Club for several years and was actively involved in the Poplar Hill community.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Westfall Hannah; his son & daughter-in-law, Randy & Susan Hannah; his daughter & son-in-law, Tina & Richard Sumner; and his special grandchildren, Brandon & Taylor Sumner and Jace & Ethan Hannah.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00pm at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, White Gate, with Minister Jim Conley officiating. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey, Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Ralph’s memory be made to the White Gate Ruritan Club, c/o Ernest Miller, 369 Walkers Creek Valley Road, Pearisburg, VA 24134.
