Hanks, Christine Nester
Nancy Christine “Chris” Nester Hanks, 88, of Pulaski, VA died early Monday morning, October 7, 2019 at her home. She was born in Carroll Co., VA on September 18, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Warren Edgar Nester and Grace Largen Nester.
Chris was a retired nurse and was a member of the First Christian Church. She was passionate about her genealogical and historical research, but she was most proud of her family and her nursing career.
Chris was a member of Count Pulaski Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, she served as Chapter Registrar for several years. She was a member of the Pulaski County Courthouse Exhibits Committee, Pulaski County WWI & WWII Commemoration Committee, Pulaski County Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee. She was also a member of the Carroll County Genealogy Club. Chris spent countless hours researching and documenting Soldiers of the Civil War, World War I and World War II that are buried in Pulaski County. She compiled those soldiers names and information into books for display at the Old Stone Pulaski County Courthouse. Chris loved history and genealogy, and was always willing to help others further their research.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 11th at 11:00 AM from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John Dunstan officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. Visiting will be at the funeral home on Friday where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, Pulaski.
