amem_mountainstreamBernice Lee LeFew Haney, 81, of Pulaski, Va., passed away peacefully into he loving arms of Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015. She was born May 21, 1934, in Pikeville, Ky., daughter of the late Chester Marion LeFew and Sarah Angie Goode.

She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Elmer Howard Jones and William C. Haney; two sisters, Evelyn Gay and Waunita May; and brother James Chester LeFew.

She was a member of the Pulaski Church of God for 32 years where she attended and taught Sunday school. She was blessed and thankful to be part of God’s service and church family. Bernice took part in several community functions where she volunteered her time to help others. She attended most of the ballgames at Calfee Park, where she worked at the concession stand. She will be missed by all who knew her. Bernice worked at Martin’s Pharmacy, Radford Arsenal and Jefferson Mills.

She is survived by a daughter, Anita Gail Chrisley of Pulaski; two sons, Frederick “Ricky” Dean Jones of Pulaski and James Edward “Eddie” Jones of Clifton Forge, Va.; sister Geneva Lou Nelson of Pulaski; brother Paul C. LeFew of Salem, Va.; and many grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was known to all of these important people as Granny Haney.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Seagle Funeral Home, with Rev. Johnny Howlett officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin, Va. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home.
