Preceded in death by his parents, Walter H. and Dollie Maude Brammer Handy; wife, Marie S. Handy; daughter, Mary Ann “Annie” Horst. Survived by daughters and son-in-law, Elsie M. Grimes, Patricia A. and Alan Brooks; son and daughter-in-law, John T. Jr. and Carol Handy; brother and sister-in-law, James A. and Louella Handy; sister, Lorraine “Pat” Gillespie and the late Clarence E. Gillespie; special nephew, Wayne Gillespie; several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews. SFC Handy served his country for 20 years in the Army having served in Korea and Vietnam. After the military he worked as a police officer in Georgia. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010, at the Beaver Creek Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Marvin Wade officiating. Burial to follow at the Beaver Creek Cemetery with Military Honors by the Virginia Army National Guard.
