Handy, Robert Lee

Robert Lee “Peachie” Handy, age 70, passed away on November 20, 2021, at the Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. Born June 27, 1951, in Monroe County, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Burns Handy and Mary Magdaline Knight Handy.

Robert was a former employee of the Greenbrier Hotel, where he worked in the housekeeping department. He loved his family, the great outdoors, horses, and his precious dog, Baby. He touched the hearts of so many, and he was dearly loved and will forever be missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Judy Carol Byers and Peggy Jean Deskins. Those left to cherish his memory are four sisters, Shirley Canterbury and husband Kerry Greenwood of Lindside, WV, Susie Knight and husband Robert of Rock Camp, WV, Della Lilly and husband Junior of Lindside, WV, and Connie Amos and companion Andy Grubb of Pearisburg, VA; five brothers, Steven Handy of Rock Camp, WV, Thomas and Ralph Handy of Lindside, WV, Lewis Handy of Goldsboro, NC, and Chester Handy and wife Rose of Pearisburg, VA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV. Services will follow the visitation, with Pastor Joshua Maltba officiating.
