Hancock, Rachel Olinger

Rachel (Dorothy) Olinger Hancock, 88, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Wheatland Hills, Radford.

She was born in Montgomery County, Va. on June 6, 1920 to the late Harvey Black and Sarah Fisher Olinger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carlton William Hancock.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Freddie B. and Gail Olinger; two grandchildren, Michael Olinger of California and Joan Olinger Beach and husband, Mark, Powhatan, Va.; one great-grandchild, Cody Beach; three stepgrandchildren, Heather Kaifer and husband, Mark, Kristina Livasy and husband, Jeff, Jessica Boardman; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Drew Kaifer.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 27, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, c/o Donna Miller, 5201 Long Shop Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060 or Fairview Community Church, 3766 Glade Road, Blacksburg, VA 24060.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
