Hammond, Karen Simmons

Karen Marie Simmons Hammond passed away on Friday April 27, 2018 in Griffin, GA where she lived with her husband, Thomas Hammond for many years. She was preceded by her husband, her mother Freeda Cannaday, and her father Hugh Cannaday.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Ehlers, son-in-law, Crawford Ehlers and one grandson, Christopher Ehlers. Also survive are her many family and friends in Virginia, Georgia and Tennessee.

Karen retired from Delta Airlines after 23 years of service. Most recently, she worked in a fabric store where she enjoyed sharing her passion of sewing with others. She was an avid animal lover and pampered her two Pekingeses, Pebbles and Rebel.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2018 at Jacksonville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her name to the Floyd County Humane Society, www.floydhumanesociety.org.
