Hamlin Sr., William Allen

William Allen Hamlin Sr., 60, of Pulaski, and formerly of Narrows, departed this life on Friday morning, December 28, 2012, at the Salem Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem. He was born in Pearisburg on December 10, 1952, and graduated from Narrows High School and completed one year of college. Before being disabled he was employed as a boiler mechanic and foreman for Morgan Linen Service. William was a veteran of the United States Army, Viet Nam Era. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hope H. Passineau; and his beloved stepfather, Oliver E. (Couge) Fillinger. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Ruth Sarver Fillinger, of Narrows; his devoted wife, Judith Brown Hamlin, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, William Allen Jr. and Tabatha Hamlin, of East Nassau, N.Y.; his daughters and son-in-law, Melisa Hamlin, of Troy, N.Y., Cardella Ruth and Gilbert Sutcliffe, of Plymouth, N.H., and Belinda Katherine Hamlin, of Troy, N.Y.; his brother, Jimmy Fillinger, of Narrows; his 12 grandchildren; his special sisters, Carol Brown, Jelayne Brown, and Jamie Banes; and his special brother, David Brown. At William’s request there will be no public funeral services or visitation time. The Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke is in charge of the arrangements.
