Hamilton, Carl Stinson
Carl Stinson (Curly) Hamilton, 85, of Hiwassee and Bland, passed away May 9, 2013. He was born in Mechanicsburg on the family farm on November 21, 1927, the son of the late William Hoge and Emma Stinson Hamilton.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Annie Faulkner Hamilton; three brothers, Billy, Eugene, and Sandy Hamilton; one sister, Allene Hamilton Breedlove; one grandson, Shawn Compton; and one stepson, Leslie Agee.
Curly worked at Dunn Motors for 33 years, retired from the Bland Correctional Center in 1990, and served in the Army as a Medical Medic. He was a member of the Bland Masonic Lodge A.F. and A.M. of Virginia Bland Lodge #206, serving as Brother and Master Mason, a member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #41, a member of New River Shriner’s Club and Shriner’s International, a member of the Kazim Temple.
Curly loved their home on Claytor Lake and traveling to Texas in the winter to fish. His daughter Kathy had taken care of him for the past year and both had great enjoyment in this. He also enjoyed his visits with Craig at the Lake as well. He was a great father who raised his kids to be free spirited. He was proud of all his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Havens (husband, Chaw), Pat Mitchell (husband, Frank Underwood), one son, Craig Hamilton (wife Tina); family friend, Annette King; five grandsons, Ritchie Havens (Sherri), Coleman Stinson Hamilton (Michelle), Jessup and Jordan Hamilton, Jackie Agee Jr. (Louise); one granddaughter, Danielle Underwood Jessee; one great-grandson, Dylan Havens; a stepdaughter-in-law, Louise Agee; stepgreat-grandchildren Nikki, Christie, Travis and Lucas Agee; a sister-in-law, Loraine Hamilton; a brother-in-law, Bill Breedlove; nieces and nephews, Janet, Carol and Loyd.
Curly had many special friends, Alford, Allen, Grat and Curtis, and extended family members.
Funeral services with Masonic rites will be 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2013, at A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, White Gate, with the Rev. Ted Anders officiating. Military graveside rites by the Bland V.F.W. Post #7969 and American Legion Post #20 will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12, 2013, at the Salem Cemetery, Bland. The family will receive friends during visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 5 p.m. until service time of 7 p.m.
