Clarence Lloyd “Hambone” “Junie” Hamblin, Jr., 78, of Dublin, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at his home on Highland Road in Dublin. Clarence was born Nov. 29, 1934 to the late Lloyd Clarence Hamblin and Susie Jane Long Hamblin in Belspring.

He retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service and from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department as a Sergeant after 19 years. He was a member of the Virginia May Lodge #38 AF&AM and the New River Valley Shrine Club.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin Edwards Hamblin, Calvin Eugene “Gene” Hamblin, and Robert Daniel “Bobby” Hamblin.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Nancy Elizabeth Carter Hamblin; three sons and their wives, Roger Lee and Martha Hamblin of Virginia Beach, Andrew Miles and Sheila Hamblin of Fairlawn, and Michael C. and Velma Hamblin of Pulaski; one sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Don Argabright of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister-in-law, Lillie A. Hamblin of Belspring; three nieces, Shirley Ann Martin of Vinton, Genie Zunic of Dublin, Lyda Hamblin of Dublin, and Terri Kelly of South Carolina; five nephews, Danny Hamblin, Keith Hambin, Dennis Hamblin, Greg Argabright, and Van Argabright; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the special caregivers during Clarence’s time of illness: Kim B. Hall, Kathleen A. Bessler, and Carilion Clinic Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Tony Hamblin, Josh Hamblin, Troy Hamblin, Jessie Hamblin, Keith Hawks, Roy Lee Carter, Jr., and Flower Girls will be his granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford, Thursday, Oct. 17. Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 18 at 11am at DeVilbiss Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ginny Tompkins officiating. A graveside service with full military and Masonic rites will follow at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made in Clarence’s honor to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Kazim Shrine Temple, 628 Campbell Ave SW, Roanoke, VA 24016.
